Oct. 12th.

My wife Shari and I just celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary and have moved into Colorado Springs, from Monument, Colo. We lived on Monument hill where it snowed a lot, so we decided to move while both our health is still quite good, and bought a home in Colorado Springs, where the living is on the main level. Too many steps where we lived and the old knees were showing the age, so glad to see the many steps go.

I am still playing racquetball every day at the local YMCA and also ride the stationary bike five to ten miles per day.

I had a heart attack at the same Y on Jan. 29th 2014, where is was "dead" for three minutes and by the grace of the Good Lord, a gentlemen who worked for a local fire department was coming in to exercise and call for the Defiblator and two ladies who work there were giving me CPR, so when I came too, there was the ambulance and they took me to the hospital and put in a stint and now almost as good as "new".

Of course any pain in my left side gets my attention pretty fast.

I did give up softball, after playing for 56 years, but saw the light. When I could not run, nor throw and my hitting was going down hill, I knew it was time to quit.

Enjoy my years in Kansas, especially times at Windthorst and St. Mary of the Plains, playing sports and making many friends.

School Story:

Really enjoyed all four years at SMOP, and appreciated all the nuns. Can't ever forget the bus rides, in the old greyhound, going to baseball and basketball games, all the time wondering if we were going to have to push it, as we did several times. In KC, after playing U of KC, the fuel pump went out, so the driver, Mr. Zeller, tried to find a new one. In the mean time we players spent as much time in a local bar, trying to stay warm until it was fixed, about 2:00AM. But worth every minute of it. We didn't know any different and supposed that all schools had the same problems.

Also remember very plainly, staying in the old dorm, down east, a army barrack. Walking up to the school was a trick, as the road was not graveled and no sidewalks. So one morning, after a rain, we decided to wear jeans to school, since the road was muddy. Well, Sister Cecilia met us at the door, after mass, and told us there would be gravel on the road, but in the mean time, go back and put on dress slacks, as the dress code required.

It was not a thought to talk back to her, so yes, about l0 of us went back and changed clothes.

Hi Jim:

Gee, I wondered where you are and I see you went back to Amarillo, where you came from. I remember you well, as well as Mary Kay, your sister, right?

Dear Barbara, thank you for your response.  Yes, it's a notification of death, an honest one, but this is a CATHOLIC COLLEGE.  I would expect some reminder that Catholics do not live and die as they want and are admitted into heaven no matter what.  I'm thinking of Steve's lawful wife, his children, grandchildren, and all those nieces and nephews who may be tempted to follow his example.  It's pure selfishness to chose a life of sodomy over the way God intends and commands us to live if we want a place in His kindgom.  That's the core of the problem, of course; everyone is saved since Vatican II.  I don't think there is any evidence supporting that fantasy.  Again, thank you for your response.  At least I'm not all alone.  Shari Temaat

I added a comment two days ago.  What happened to it?  Why delete it without commenting on my comment?  I said that Steve broke his marriage vows to a woman and "married" a man.  Where in the Catholic Church is that allowed?  Am I the only one who objects to sodomy being treated by St. Mary of the Plains as if it is acceptable?  Our dear nuns are rolling in their graves.  Especially Sister Mel Eesa.  And no doubt those priests who taught Death, Judgement, Heaven and Hell and meant it.  Don't delete my comment.  Correct it if you can.  Shari Temaat
