I was in the same high school class as Steve and he was one of the nicest people I ever knew. I have some friends and even some family members that are gay and I am positive that it is not a choice that they make. I cannot believe that God ever turned his back on Steve, I can only guess that Steve remained a good christian throughout his life. Judge not lest thee be juged.
