School Story:
Below were my unforgettable moments while studying at SMPC between 1969-1971:
1. Won the 1st prize in the kite-flying contest.
2. Got the 1st prize trophy for the intramural table-tennis competition.
3. Appeared on the local TV for an interview’s program.
4. Gave presentations at
a. Montezuma High School,
b. The Lion Rotary Club and
c. The Kansas Women’s Association.
5. Was interviewed and had my story published by the Dodge City Daily Globe and the Hutchinson News.
6. Participated in the University’s on the Air, a radio program.
7. Went on the education fieldtrip to the State’s Capital, the Education Dept. and the Specialty School Supplies at Topeka, Kansas with Dr. Barber and the fellow education students.
8. Worked at Lora-Locke Hotel and later at Silver Spur Restaurant.
9. Travelled by train to Kansas State University, asking for a scholarship for my master’s degree.
10. Went to L.A. by the slow Santa Fe train.
11. Was surprised by two lovers around mid-night in the laundry room on the ground floor of Roncalli’s Hall.
12. Was typing in my room on the 4th floor (of Roncalli’s Hall) when a smoke fire broke out on the 2nd floor.
13. Got a 3-speed Austrian bicycle to commute between the campus and the downtown area and was stopped by a policeman one night after work.
14. Obtained the KS Driver’s license one summer after the written and the practical examinations.
15. Flooded out the prairie dogs from the lawn in front of the Roncalli’s Hall just for fun.
16. Was invited to celebrate UN day by the owner of Jack & Jill.
17. Was on the Dean’s Honor List throughout my years at SMPC.
18. Was elected as a regular member of the Alpha Mu Gamma, the national foreign language honor society.
19. Tried to save a bird on a snowy day, but fell into a ditch.
20. Lost my stainless necklace, a flute and paintings while I went to work after school.
21. Spent one sleepless night at Chris Lowery’s place in Missouri, Kansas on the way to Dodge City from Thailand.
