I worked as a Key Punch operator. Then married and had 4 children. After having children I worked part time as an Avon Lady, in a bank, then as an advertising saleman for Feist Publications. I have served on the United Telephone Co-op Board of Trustees for 28 years and have traveled to conventions in major cities coast to coast. I was secretary and helper for my husband farmer. We have lived on the farm 47 years. We have built 3 houses. One in Dodge in 1965, moved to the farm in 1967, remodeled the farm house, then built a new home in 1972. Our latest is our cabin near Creede Col.
Richard and I are retired now and spend time back and forth between the farm and Creede in the summer. In the winter we like to take the RV and go south to AZ or Texas for a few weeks. Our greatest joy is our family and 11 grandchildren, 6 girls and 5 boys, ranging in age 20 to almost 5 years old. |

I remember one time a classmate, claiming to be from the Weather Bureau, called the principle and told her that a Blizzard was for-cast and school should be let out. The principle believed him and we all got to go home! I can't remember if he got caught or not but it was talked about for a long time. The call was from the pay phone in the hall by the principle's office! We were all amazed and thought our classmate was brilliant!---- Wouldn't get by with that today, with the modern technology! |
